Discharge/Prostate/STD ????

by Drumrunner75, Apr 23, 2009 12:33AM
Hi.  I am a 53 year old male with BPH, diagnosed about two years ago.  I take Cardura and Proscar. Over the past month or so, I have occasionally (read as - some days there, some days not) had a white to greyish discharge from my penis when I milk down it, usually noticed more in the early morning.  It looks kind of like semenal fluid or pre-ejaculate. But, someone said it could be gonorrhea or some kind of UTI or urethritis.   I seem to have tenderness in my lower abdomen and my penis, in particular the head, seems to feel as if it is "humid."  So, not sure.

1. Would discharge from an STD be intermittent like that, or would it be more constant and obvious?
2. Would an STD discharge be running out fluidly, or would it have to also be milked out?
3. Could the "milking" be causing some kind of irritaion which presents as this milky white or grey looking discharge?
4. Prostate (I do have BPH) problems?
5. Other thoughts?

Thanks for any and all help.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. White discharge from the penis on milking is completely normal and suggests normal glandular fluid. STD’s can produce discharge constantly or intermittently, does not need milking, but they are accompanied by a lot of symptoms like rash, itching, pain, discomfort on ejaculation etc.

As you mentioned that you have BPH, this could have lead to discharge. If you have any other symptoms then a urine and semen analysis can help making diagnosis.
Consult a urologist for prostrate examination.
Best.
