Discharge and Soreness

55 year old male.  I have BPH and take Proscar and Cardura XL.  Having some lower abdominal soreness and have noted cloudy urine and now a whitish discharge from my penis.  Began Bactrim and Cipro yesterday, along with Ibuprofen.  I am working out of the country, so tracking down a Urologist or even a general practice doctor that speaks good enough English for me to understand, and for them to understand me, is a challenge.  So, am I on a good track?  Prostatitis?  Bladder/Kideney infection?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the confirmation.  It'll be a couple of months before I am back to a place I can see a doctor that I would feel comfortable understands me.  Lucky I guess that I have the Bactrim and Cipro with me.  Discharge seems to be much less and more cloudy to clear than white now, after 1.5 days on the two Antibiotics.  But, still sore in the lower abdomen.  Maybe a bladder infection.

Thanks again.

Hi.

Yes, this sounds like a urinary tract infection. UTI may very well involve the prostate. Prostatitis may present with pain in the perineal area (area between the scrotum and the anus). The area may be tender or reddish . A urinalysis, urine and prostatic secretion cultures are necessary to guide treatment. A complete physical examination including a digital rectal examination may be necessary.

A transrectal ultrasound may be able to assess the involvement of the prostate. A kidney, ureter and bladder scan may also be of help.
