Do i have epididymis?

by John--__0, Nov 30, 1998 12:00AM
i am 13 and i recently got my yearly physical. A few weeks ago i detected a really small size lump on my right teste. It was smaller than a pee (about 1/4 the size). When i went to my physican yesterday, He did not detect anything. But I am still worried this is something bad. Is it? Please help

Dear John,
Monthly self examination of the testicles is recommended.  If you detect a "lump"  it may or may not be cancer, but follow up with a physician is recommended.  If suspicion warrants, a testicular ultrasound study and blood tests for testicular tumor markers can be performed.  These are not necessary if your physician is confident that the lump you felt is a normal anatomic structure.
More individualized care is available at the Henry Ford Hospital and its satellites (1 800 653 6568). We can also arrange local accommodations through this number if this is
your need. Please bring any physicians’ notes and lab test results that
you may be able to obtain. These will help us greatly.
