Doxycycline

They told me I should take doxycycline for 9 days because they didnt know wether I had a bacterial infection in the urinary tract or not. And the doctor also told me not to have drink alcohol, and have sex during that time. Is this sex restriction so that I dont infect other people or does it have any negative effects on me?

I don’t think drinking alcohol in any way will effect the urinary tract infection. It is not going to worsen the infection. However, will suggest avoiding sex as that tends to increase the chances of infection to one’s partner. I’ll suggest drinking plenty of fluids as that tends to wash away the bacteria due to the flushing effect. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
