One consideration would be Mondor's disease, or superficial thrombophlebitis of a penile vein. Typically, treatment would involve anti-inflammatories, which should help with the symptoms. You may want to consider an ultrasound to ensure that is all there is.
If the symptoms have been persisting (6 months in your case), a urology referral can be considered to discuss whether a surgical procedure may be of benefit to remove the vein.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
