Epididymectomy/Vasectomy-Reversal

by klb1981, Apr 23, 2009 10:18AM
My fiance had a vasectomy a few years ago. He also had to have an epididymectomy on one testicle about 2 years ago. We were wondering if he had a reversal of the vasectomy, would he be fertile and able to have a child? Or would that be something he will need to see a doctor for tests? Would you be able to give his percentage of likelyhood of being fertile?

Hi,
How are you? Chances of fertility after reversal of vasectomy , that too on one side is very variable. It also depends upon the recovery and the quality of the sperm after reversal. Usually after ten years of vasectomy the quality of sperm deteriorates.

But there is nothing to worry, as these days we have advanced techniques to retrieve sperm which can be introduced by various methods in female genital tract and can help in having kids.
Consult a fertility specialist for further assistance.
Best.
