Exophytic renal cyst and pregnancy

by Lainie2744, Jun 09, 2009 01:06AM
I am 40 years old, and 31 weeks pregnant. My OB noted an abdominal mass during a routine ultrasound several weeks ago. I had a follow up ultrasound at a cancer center (where I work), and the radiologist recommended an MRI for further evaluation. I have not yet reviewed the results with my OB, but basically I have a 8 x 7 x 4 cm minimally complex cystic mass in my upper right quadrant, presumed to be an exophytic renal cyst.

What would be a reasonable next step? Am I safe to proceed with my pregnancy with no further testing, and follow up a few months after giving birth? Or shoud I push for the MRI and consult with a kidney specialist for immediate evaluation and treatment?
