Extreme irritation after finishing urinating

by serradiora, Oct 20, 2009 07:38AM
I'm a 27yo female(no children) and i've had this problem for 8 months now. Its been burning when i finish urinating, not usually before or during but some times i've had trouble going if its really bad and it causes any skin around my urethra or where the urine hits to also burn very badly, this has caused me to not be able to have sex and even wiping after urinating is a nightmare. 1 month into the start of this is I also started getting a thick white heavy discharge from my vagina which is why they thought GYN problem i'm sure.  I've seen several doctors at my local clinic and been reffered to a GYN. They have given me treatments for BV, Yeast and a fungal cortisone cream, none of which worked. My STD and UTI tests were all negative. The GYN they sent me to didnt know what was wrong and gave me another form of cortisone ointment for the pain and told me to come back in 2 months if it hasnt gone away which i dont see happening since i've already had it for 8 months and after 2 weeks of taking the cort its worse, not better. Should i ask for a refferal to a urologist instead of GYN? Do you have any idea what could be causing this?
Any information you could arm me with before my next appt. i would greatly appreciate since everyone involved so far seems stumped.

Are you taking any new medications in the last eight months? This may be a "fixed drug eruption." which is a localized allergic drug reaction. Any chemicals, new soaps that you have been using on you or your clothes? (I would have expected the cortisone to have doe some good in both situations.)
I do not have any other ideas but I do think that a visit to a urologist is needed.
The urogynecology forum may offer some other thoughts.
Good luck.
