Father bladder problems?

Hi,
My father has been having a number a few bladder problems since April this year. He has seen the family doctor and was initially prescribed a course of antibiotics. After three courses of antibiotics he was referred to a urologist. He has presented with flank pain, urgency but has not had any blood in his urine. His first appointment was in June where he had abdominal ultrasound and a flexible cytoscopy procedure performed. He has this procedure repeated in August where he was diagnosed with Cystitis Glandularis of no significance and also thickening of the bladder lining though ultrasound. The urologist then performed in September a TUR procedure (transurethral resection) to get better biopsies of the bladder. He has since received a letter informing him that his scheduled appointment for next January has been changed to November.
Apart from the likelihood of Bladder Cancer I was wondering why the appointment may have been brought forward? Or what other diagnoses could be drawn from these symptom presentation and investigational procedures peformed.
