Feeling of not voiding

For a year I've been trying to get to the bottom of my urinary frequency problem, and recently realized that I often have a feeling that I am not completely voiding.  I make a point of voiding slowly and calmly, of not rushing or straining.  But if I wait a minute after voiding, I try again and usually find I can still pass a bit of urine - sometimes a third and even fourth time as well.  It's as if I'm never completely voiding.  For the record, I had a sonogram done which revealed normal post-void residual.  I went through the standard medications for overactive bladder with no result, and am currently trying bladder retraining and physical therapy.  I wonder if anyone could shed any light on this.

Wonder how is it going for you, if you still read this. I have a similar condition and scheduling a urodynamic test. My condition is quite severe though.

Hello, Lemten.  I had a urodynamic test done, and again I registered normal post-void residual, and no other abnormalities other than that my bladder seems to hold less than the full capacity, and I get urges before the bladder is acutally full.  I have been able to improve my condition by doing Kegel exercises, and am convinced that my problem is largely due to anxiety and stress due to things that are happening in my life, rather than a physical problem.

I have very similar symptoms. It´s been 1,5 years but if you´re still reading this, could you report if something has changed in your condition? Have you had a correct diagnosis yet etc? Thank you.

Sorry, I contradicted myself.  Yes, I did have a urinalysis done.

I am 23 years old.  I would describe it as a feeling that I could void a slight bit more rather than an outright urge.  An hour or so after voiding an urge returns, ranging from a slight, mildly annoying urge to stronger urgency.  The freuency continues at night, with my having to get up usually 3 times.  In all cases I void a pretty small amount.  I'm on a bladder retraining program now where I go every two hours, but there has been no actual diminution in the urge.

Yes, I had a urinalysis and had my prostate examined, with normal results.  I tried a diet plan where I elimiated all bladder irritants (including caffeine) for three weeks, which had no effect.  I did not have a urinalysis done.  My doctor advised me to get a urodynamic test, but in the meantime I'm doing bladder retraining and physical therapy.

I feel that my problem is due to nerves and anxiety, but how likely is it that there is a structural problem in my bladder that a urodynamic test would be able to uncover?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

The feeling of not completely voiding - does this appear as an urge to void again or as a sense of fullness in the bladder or lower abdomen?

How old are you?

Has your prostate been evaluated over the past year since the problems started?

Was a urinalysis done? If yes, what were the results?

It is possible that the condition could be a result of some problem in the bladder or could be related to the prostate.

You can avoid alcohol and caffeine for the next few weeks and see if that brings about any difference in your symptoms.

Do provide a few more details so we can evaluate the issue adequately.
Regards
