Foley catheter damage

Can an accidental "pulling" on a Foley catheter following an unrelated surgery cause permanent damage to the urethra and/or the prostate gland? Could this affect his ability to have an erection?

This discussion is related to Difficulty Urinating after removal of Foley catheter.
