Foreskin retraction question

by Rick1234321, Sep 18, 2008 11:21AM
Hi, I'm 18 years old and I have recently heard about phimosis and I'm not sure if i have it or not.

I don't have a problem retracting my foreskin when my penis is flaccid or when its erect but the head of my penis is quite sensitive and it hurts to touch it. What I am confused about is if when my penis becomes erect is the foreskin meant to retract itself or does it have to be pulled back manually because when my penis becomes erect it doesn't retract itself and the head is sore too touch and im not sure if it should be this sensitive or will that sensitivity disappear.

Assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Phimosis is a condition where the male foreskin cannot be fully retracted from the head of the penis.Phimosis in older children and adults can vary in severity, with some men able to retract their foreskin partially and some completely unable to retract their foreskin even in the flaccid state.

What other symptoms are you experiencing? How long has it been this way? Was there a previous trauma to this area? There should be retraction of the skin regardless of what state you are in.  When phimosis develops in an uncircumcised adult who was previously able to retract his foreskin, it is nearly always due to a pathological cause, and is far more likely to cause problems for the man. If it persists, it would be best to see your doctor for further evaluation and management.

Take care and regards.
