Frequest UTI's

by vronnica, Nov 02, 2009 12:54PM
I've been getting at least 6-8 UTI's a year in the last 3 years and I'm pretty much fed up.  I had a scan of my abdomen done about 6 months ago and everything looks fine.  I currently have another UTI that pretty much said that I had a "LARGE" amount of Hemoglobin, UR, QL in my stream.  Is that blood?  The results said I had "Greater than 100,000 COL/ML ESCHERICHIA COLI."  What does that mean?  I'm concerned that my doctors are overseeing something that might be wrong inside.  Someone mentioned something about cancer.  Please help me understand what might be happening.

Thanks!

Hi,
The presence of hemoglobin/blood in urine doesn’t mean cancer. It can occur during a UTI only. However, if it continues even after the UTI is over, then one needs to look for other causes like the presence of a stone in the urinary tract/bladder cancer etc. For the same, a CT scan of the urinary tract or a cystoscopy of the bladder is required. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
