Fungal Infection, Testicular Pain

Hi, I am a 21 year old male who is not sexually active. For the past several years I have had a pretty much non-stop jock itch on my scrotum. I have tried treating it by changing soaps etc but never used a very strong anti-fungal because my GP said it didnt look like a fungal infection. During the spring of this year, I developed an extremely bad testicular pain (which has lasted an entire 8 months), bladder frequency, Sexual dysfunction, muscle spasms, back pain, indigestion and neurologic weakness (in that order). All major problems such as torison, hernia, regular uti, back nerve problems etc showed up negative. I also tried cipro for a few weeks and it only seemed to worsen things. Recently I have tried an antifungal diet (No sugar, carbs, etc) and my symptoms are improved drastically.

I was mainly wondering if Fungal infections can spread to the interior of the scrotum and urinary tract? (there were many occasions when the skin on the scrotum was scratched so much that it produced blood, scabs, etc. so it may be possible for things on the outside to get in.

I know candida and similar beliefs on fungal infections aren't widely accepted among scholarly doctors but by all logic of my experiences over the past year, it is the only thing that makes sense and the only treatment that seems effective for me.

Itching and scratching can become a positive feedback type of situation in which the more you itch and scratch the more itching occurs. This is called neurodermatitis." I suggest that you see a dermatologist. The problem is readily treatable. I cannot link your other genital symptoms to this, however. Given the length of time that your other symptoms have been present, a specialist's (urologist) comment seems in order.

It may also be worth noting that I was perhaps wrongly prescribed a corticosteriod cream (triamcinelone acetonide?). to apply to the groin area after I complained to my doctor about an itch down there. If the itch was due to an existing exterior fungal infection then I understand applying a corticosteriod to a fungal infection is a very bad thing. My symptoms started within a few days of using the cream.

Yes, I did have a scrotal ultrasound which came back negative.

When you said all of your tests came back negative did that include a scrotal ultrasound?  Having testicular pain for eight months that would be the test to have.
I hope you get this resolved soon.
