GFR

GFR

Thank you for your answer to yesterday's post.  This is a follow up, with further info based on your reply.

To summarize from last post: 37 yr old heathy white male; creatinine fairly consistently  at 1.1 and BUN 13 - 23 for 7 yrs; last est. GFR = 84 (5 mos ago); normal kidney ultrasound (15 mos ago).

No protein ever in yearly micro-urinalysis.  Last UA 5 mos ago totally normal.

1) I guess the only thing really bothering me is being below the threshold of 90.  But, I take comfort in the normal UA and ultrasound.  With GFR =84, creatinine 1.1, normal UA and ultrasound, any issues?

2) I do aerobics 25-30 mins 3-5 X per week.  And moderate weightlifting 3-4  X per week.  I do NOT take supplemental creatine.  Also, could the creatinine be a bump or two higher from exercise?

To answer your questions:
1) With the normal u/a, creatinine and ultrasound, it would be unlikely that a kidney disease is present.

2) It is true that exercise can transiently raise the creatinine.  Repeating the values to ensure the levels aren't rising can be considered to ensure this is the case.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
