Gel-like substance in semen

by JK__0__0, Jul 14, 1998 12:00AM

I have an apple jelly-like substance that accompanies my semen.
There is no pain nor other symptoms that I can tell.
Has anyone ever heard of this?

Dear mcg,
Your urethra and urinary tract secretes a lubricating substance  from the glands of Littre’ that may be what you are describing but this is usually a clear fluid.  If you have not had any unprotected sexual encounters or you are not worried about a sexually transmitted then you have little to be concerned about.
My other thought is that the semen has begun to break down and coagulate, this happens in about 15-30 minutes.  This may cause the semen to gel.
I would see your family doctor for an evaluation if you are still concerned.
