HIgh Protein Levels In Urine

by Ubriel, Aug 17, 2009 06:19PM
My Fiancee' is 23 and has been feeling bad for the last couple of days. She has been nauseous, has a slightly high blood pressure of around 120 over 85, and has a pulse rate of about 108. She went a clinic and they ran some tests. They came back with and told her that her protein levels in her urine were high. They also gave her a shot that they said would lower the levels and that it would cause the nausea to go away. She was wondering what the cause of this might be. They did not seem concerened about it and did not tell her what the level of protein was

Hi,
Honestly speaking, I have not heard of any shot which relieves the proteinuria in one go. The proteinuria commonly occurs due to a compromised kidney function. Firstly, the cause of the proteinuria has to be found out. The treatment will depend on the same. For that a battery of tests are required like 24 hrs urinary excretion, all the kidney function tests. Mild proteinuria can occur due to a number of conditions and can go away on its own. Please do consult a nephrologist again and seek another opinion. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
