Hair on Penis

by Mat__0__0, Jun 14, 1998 12:00AM

I am a sixteen year-old high school student, who hit puberty when I was about 14 and a half.  I have hair on my penis since about six months from the first appearance of my pubic hair.  Being a teen-ager, I am generally self-conscious, and I was just wondering if that was normal, and ,if so, about what percentage of men had hair on their peinses.  Thank you very much for any informtion you can give me.

Dear Matt
Thanks for your question.
Puberty for males begins usually at 11-12 and is complete with in five years. Delayed puberty usually commences by age 16.  Delayed puberty is common and seen in parents or siblings. Hair growth occurs over the next decade.  Many patterns of hair distributions are considered normal on the male genitalia. Differences in hair distribution are not significant.
More individualized care is available at the Henry Ford Hospital and its urban campuses by calling  (1 800 653 6568).
