by Kark486, Sep 29, 2009 02:57PM
Hi, I am 14 years old and have noticed for the last few weeks that a lump that is on my left testicle inside my scrotum that is painful when pressure is applied and is begging to annoy and worry me. Its about the size of a BB pellet and I heard it might be a cyst. If it is or isnt can you tell me what I have to do to get rid of it? Thanks in advance :)

Hi,
There’s a possibility of epididymal cyst which is also known as spermatocoele. It’s a cystic swelling present just above the testes and has got a milky fluid as its content which is basically made up of sperms. If the swelling is asymptomatic, it’s left as such but in case the swelling is associated with any pain/tenderness, then it’s surgically removed. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

Thank you so much for your help but I have just 2 more questions.

If it is due to pain and tenderness, is it important enough that it needs to be removed?
Can the cyst cause cancer or any illness?
