Herbs vs Cardura

I was prescribed Cardura for  benign  prostatic hyperplasia and continue to take it however I feel the benefits seem to have
slowed down. I recevied a advertisement for "Prostata" and wondered if anyone has had experience or knowlege of the value of glycine, alanin, glutamic acid in combination with panax ginseng, zinc and assorted herbs which is formulated "Prostata"
  Thank You.
Dear EK,
Thank you for your excellant question.  It is surprising how often people will spend their hard earned money on a "substance" that is not FDA approved, and has not undergone placebo controlled double-blinded studies (scientific study) to prove if it has any more benefit than a sugar pill.  Prostata may or may not be of any benefit.  The studies have not been done to urologists' satisfaction to answer this question.  Cardura is in a class of drugs that is FDA approved for the use in men with benign prostatic hypertrophy.  Studies show that Cardura works better than sugar pills in many patients.
