Hyper Arousal

by ED__0, Jun 23, 1998 12:00AM

I am a 49 year old male and since puberty I have had a problem which I have not been able to find any answer to. I produce a tremendous amount of pre ejaculation fluid. Often, in a non erect state so much fluid results that if I am wearing clothing, I will have a noticeable wet spot on my clothing. This can happen any time, while in the gym, dancing or just talking. Is there anything you can tell me about this? I have spoken to a number of doctors and checked the literature but have found no information. Is there any way for me to deal withthis except to suggest that I not think about women , sex etc. I find that an unacceptable solution.

Dear Ed
Thank you for your questions .
If your drainage is not associated with arousal,  what is the difference from a penile discharge or incontinence.  As you know a penile discharge can be a symptom of an  STD.  If this is a possibility, you should be checked.   A rare urethral diverticulum which drains intermittently could possibly cause a liquid discharge as could a urthral stricture. The prostatic glands and ejaculatory duct enter above the  urethral sphincter and should keep the fluid from leaking out.  It would almost be unheard of for the ejaculatory duct to insert below the sphincter. up.   Some on this forum have reported fluid after a bowel movement due to the feces pressing on the prostate and relaxing the urethral sphincter.  I would see a board certified urologist for an evaluation.
More individualized urological care is available at the Henry Ford Hospital and its urban campuses by calling  (1 800 653 6568). We can also arrange local accommodations through this number if this is your need. Please bring any physicians’ notes and lab test results that you  may be able to obtain. These will help us greatly.
