Infected prostate

        About 2 weeks ago I had a fever and chills. I was urinating more than usual.
About a week ago I went to the ER because I had a fever and was dribbling urine. I was given a urine test. The results said I had a urinary tract infection. I was put on Cipro and flomax.
          The very next day I could not urinate at all! After about 4 hrs of this, I called the ER. The nurse said to wait a few hours so the Cipro had time to work. After app. 10 hours later I went back to the ER. They immediately put a catheter on me. What a relief! The procedure was very painful. The bag was almost completely full of urine!
            This happened on Friday and Saturday. Monday morning I went to the urology Dr.. He left the catheter in me. He ordered a cat scan. the results were normal.
             Thursday morning about 6 a.m. the ER removed the catheter. At 4 p.m. I wen bacvk to the Urologist for my app..All this time I only dribbled less than a half a teaspoon! He put the catheter back in!
                My next app. is Monday.
                        
                        1-  How long does this type of infection take to get symptoms? Was this
                             infection building up in me?
                        2-  How long after the catheter is removed should it take to urinate?
