Injured Penis? It stings

by NeedsHelp12, Jul 21, 2009 01:44AM
Hi,

So this is what has happened:

I've been having this problem since about January 4th, 2009. My penis stings a lot and I believe that it is the direct result of having sex with a girl. We had sex maybe about 3 times on new years eve and I also received oral from here twice. About the 3rd or the 4th of January I noticed a slight itchiness under my foreskin (im uncircumcised). The itchiness soon turned into a stinging feeling that was very uncomfortable. Of course I basically went into some pretty bad depression believing that I had contracted herpes. Since then I've seen three doctors who have all checked me out and I've been tested for the standard STD screenings about 4 times. All STD tests came up negative and the doctors haven't really been too helpful except for my one primary care physician. The first doctor looked at the area under the foreskin and below the head where it hurt and told me that I had a yeast infection and definitely not herpes. I tried Lotrimin AF and Lotrimin Ultra, and found no success. I did notice that the pain moved from side to side, it had a hard time staying in one spot for a number of days. Eventually I went back to planned parenthood (where i saw the first doctor) and this time i saw a different doctor and she said that because i had no itchiness (which was only something i experience in the first couple days of noticing the problem) it was definitely not a yeast infection. Finally I was able to make it to my primary care physician who has been the most helpful, but has yet to solve my problem. He told me to put Evening Primrose Oil on the area and it should help it heal. He claims that I had some rigorous sex and that when I washed my penis with soap I was irritating an area of skin that needed to heal and just made it worse.

Where I am now:
Today it is July 21st 2009, and I've had this pain for every day that I can remember since I first had it. All the doctors say there is no sign of an STD.

I have noticed that the pain has subsided with the evening primrose oil and this has worked the best for me. It does in fact help healing, but the problem still exists. Now the area of pain has been more centralized to below my penis head and next to the frenulum. It stings a lot in that area, but the oil helps. I apply the primrose oil every morning and every night and I've been doing this since June 12th i'm pretty sure. I haven't masturbated in 3 weeks now because I wanted to make sure that friction or movement of any kind wasn't disturbing it and it could heal.

I have also noticed that the pain is at the very very tip of my penis and sometimes even at the very end of my foreskin right where the tip is. It's sort of red and this may me from rubbing against my underwear when i walk around, i know this because it hurt when I walk and i can feel the chaffing.

I also noticed some sort of chaffing on my scrotum on the left side that rubs against my leg. I'm not sure if this is related or not.

Even if i did injure my penis, like my doctor thinks, why would soap make the irritation move from side to side on my penis? Could this mean that it is an infection of some kind and not an injury? My doctor almost mentioned it might be a dermatitis, is this curable?!

When I masturbate it isn't really painful, just the aftermath is. Sometimes it's like a rash has started up almost immediately after masturbating or hours later. I figure staying away from any sexual activity is my best bet, but it's very hard when you know a girl that you'd like to have in your life, i'm only 22 years old.

Is there anything I can do to help this problem? My doctor is just telling me it should heal itself, but it's been so long I'm losing my mind. I've been in pain for 198 days. I haven't washed under my foreskin since early June because i noticed that soap made it worse, and I've been applying this oil twice a day. The oil really does help because i noticed one day i missed putting it on at night and the next morning i was in terrible pain. What can I do??? Please, please help me. I don't want to been stuck in constant pain the rest of my life...

I truly appreciate your response, thank you very much for reading.

Sincerely,
A very sad man

YOu should get checked for Mycoplasma, you need a urine DNA test, not all labs are set up for it.
It could give you anwsers.
Good luck

Really? My partner said that she has never had signs of anything like this before or after we had sex.

How bad is this? Is it treatable? Am I going to have this forever?

Thanks for your quick response, I really appreciate it, i truly do.

Wait, I looked up the symptoms for it and I don't match any of these. Why would my story be related to this problem? My pain isn't in the urethra at all, it is all exterior, either on the head of the penis, below the head on the shaft but under the foreskin and even a little bit on the foreskin.

Symptoms in Men:

urethral discharge
burning on urination
pain and swelling of the joints (arthritis)
many cases have no symptoms
Mycoplasma is the most common cause of non-chlamydial non-gonoccocal urethritis in men.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi, I have a very similar story, my pain has been with me since January.  I've been chasing my tail with all the doctors, final word was it was friction and let it heal, now go away, Thanks!  I used Lotrimin, different underwear, saw spine dr, used mild soap and detergent, loosing my mind.  I have to go to dr for second opionion.  Right now I'm going to ask about prostatitis, web says this causes glans or tip pain.  Wonder if there's a better cream out there too.
I'm circumcised, blamed it all on that, though sounds like with skin covering it your still in same situation.  Will try neurologist if nothing from urologist, though definitly can't live like this, I feel for you.  Going to get through!

Well I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone. I just wish someone out there knew what the hell this was. I'm losing my mind, I can't really talk to anyone about it because it's embarrassing. I haven't masturbated in three weeks and I think that might be helping. The evening primrose oil helps a lot too, but I can't take the time out of my day for the rest of my life to apply it to my penis. I'm about to crack.

My doctor told me alternate with Lugol's solution and Evening Primrose Oil. The Lugol's is supposed to kill any sort of infection that might be occurring. If anyone is actually reading this thing, let me know and I will post the results once I see changes.

Hey,
I'm female and have been having almost exactly the same symptoms as you....except around my clit......if you find anything out please please please post it. I've been in pain for 3 months now, and when mine started they thought it was a yeast infection too... my partner has no symptoms.....and it *****, I constantly have to sit with my legs crossed because it's more comfortable and I can no longer take baths without being in pain afterwards it is driving me crazy, I'm only 19 and am worried I will have it for the rest of my life.

by NeedsHelp12, Jul 30, 2009 12:08AM
For the love of god, don't put Lugol's Solution on your penis, any of you. I am in agonizing pain. It is burning the **** out of my penis. Why the **** would my doctor prescribe me 5 bottles of this. It cost me 108 dollars just to burn the **** out of my penis. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

I'm in the same boat I'm using clotrizamole 1% and it's going after 3 long months!just try not to look up symptoms on the net or u will be think every sensation is a symptom!all my STD tests came bk negative but I'm still worried,I get my blood work back Tuesday so I will keep u posted on what happens, they are testing my organs kidney, liver etc...

If a doctor thought that it was candida then you should use Canesten or Monistat. Non of these 2 burns or stings but does control any yeast infection. One ting that does not make sense is that your partner doesn't complain about itching or pain.

Good luck,

Ron

I'm a woman. My husband has had this complaint after having sex with me. I have never cheated on him. I dont know if he has been faithful. But I think it has something to do with my sexual body lubricant. I think that I could be secreeting something that is making it painful for him to have sex because it burns him. It could also be that I like to wipe myself with these cheap babywipes for extra clean and maybe there is something in the babywipes that causes allergic reation to him. I know that this didnt always happen with us. Its usually after babies so it could be some hormonal thing in womans body that causes a chemical change in fluids. I also have ups and downs in Hypothyroidism that causes hormonal issues. Hope this can help in maybe finding a cause that might bring a treatment. Something in her or something she used there might have cause a allergic reation to you and all these wrongly diagnosed treatments  have just made it worse. Doctors arent perfect. Having kids has let me see this. Ive had to cure them based on my instincts because treatments doctors perscribe do nothing or they dont know what they have. I dont trust many doctors. Good that you go to different ones.

Hi NeedsHelp, I know you said the Lugol's Solution was terrible, though did you quit it or what were your results.  I did see a 2nd Dr, was reluctant to post, after 2 visits left me in the same boat.  He ruled out infection, though just gave antibiotics and reassurance to see him again if necessary.   Hard to say, I guess going so long with this its in my brain and cautious and worried about it getting better or damage that results.  One point, had spinal injection and have light spinal stenosis, believe brought this on, though being sedentary, friction, and stress may play a role.  Thanks all.

I cant believe nobody whose had this problem has found a cure. I have the exact same symptoms and all my friends are sick of me complaining about my wang for the past 10 months. Ive had all the same tests and my girlfriend has also been tested and everything comes back negative. My urologist is convinced its caused by stress. He says it is quite common for people to have a place in their body where they store stress such as a tension headache or their shoulder. He also said it is common to feel it in the tip of your penis. Obviously if you're worried about your penis the stress is going to be there. Ive tried relaxing and not thinking about it but its hard when it stings every time you ****.
His Advice:
  - Relax, exercise, do yoga, meditate or any other stress reducing activities
- Consciously relax the muscles in your penis when you're peeing
- Reduce consumption of citrus, spicy foods, and alcohol

Good luck, i hope we're cured soon

You can see I posted back in July, I look at forum just to check in at times, though at the end of my investigation.  My Dr gave me the exact same prognosis, reduce stress, diet, exercise.  Don't know what else he has in mind, sending me to PT, wonder where that will go, hard talking with Dr on issue, bring it up to a PT.  He diagnosed me with prostatitis after scope and I do have some symptoms, though Glans pain is there at times.  Acceptance and being strong goes a long way, knowing what it is has helped, and feel better through mindset of what I need to do.  My diet needs an overhaul, get involved with methods to relax.  In time, will get better, keep mind busy.  I've been on forum, at times, since Februrary, been this long to get to the bottom, and it's been very hard, many setbacks, different directions with doctors, just amazing.

I too have been experiencing the exact symptoms ( and others ) for the past 4 years after receiving unrpotected oral sex.. NO DR's can tell me what the hell is going on.. I have been tested for EVERYTHING !!!  It is making me crazy - every day in pain/ itchiness that comes and goes- stinging sensation/ redness/ irritation at the tip opening.. Drs tell me that is all in my head.. there is NO WAY this is all in my head... there are actual visual symptoms

by James02, Oct 13, 2009 10:09AM
Felt necessary to share some advice.  Yes check with doctor, could be fungal, just irritation.  Though do not overuse the anti fungal creams, without Dr's order, as it can thin skin, as I was told.  Plus, use caution with prescriptions, as side effects can occur. I was trying meds to rule things out and had set backs.  Trust your doctor, could be bacterial prostatitis must use meds. Though simple prostatitis, my 2 cents, is caused from diet, stress, prolonged sitting.  Not saying don't use meds, just get good advice or take time to think if it will really make a difference before jumping in.

I read your posts. I am female. Dont have your issues obviously but do have compassion. I would like to suggest reposting your story in the Dermatology community so that the Dr there could weigh in on your issues and mayhaps have your answer desperatly needed. She is very kind and intelligent. I wish you well and will be adding you as a friend and track your progress. Hope you find your answers soon! Take care,

Also could you update your status? I hope you havent given up on the community, but it would be great if you are healed now and that is why your so quiet and not posted lately.

I also have the same condition and it started after oral sex --- http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Urology/Prostatitis-almost-immediately-after-sex/show/1065861?personal_page_id=796359&;post_id=post_4928113

BUT - I AM CURED NOW!!! How? I was diagnosed with "non-bacterial" prostatitis... Yeah right! Non-bacterial prostatitis that flares after unprotected sex can be two things - allergy or bacterial/viral infection. I had two months of antibiotics with no help and then started the drainage at the same time as the antibiotics were on - I was prescribed 10 days of Cipro 250mg 2xday...

I'm 100% heterosexual man - married and have two kids... I'm not ashamed to say this, as the pain/irritation is HORRIBLE, but I used a women g-spot stimulator to milk my prostate 1 hour after taking the antibiotic... The first drainage made difference... I was very gentle as I was doing it to myself and felt a little "crunch" followed by approximately 15 drops of seminal fluid that smelled bad and was all grey! The following drainages weren't as "juicy" and after five drainages I had only few drops of prostate fluid that was all clear and transparent as it should be.

The redness of the glans is reduced (although not all of the redness is gone) and I have no more symptoms... I think if I have sex again, the symptoms return, but this time I survived with this. Many reports say that prostate milking helps, but "finger" just isn't enough to put pressure to the prostate. Be careful, try it if you want to (I know, it sounds horrible but it really helps with the pain) but remember to take antibiotics at the same time! Cipro and Trimethroprim-Sulphadiazine have been succesful with me during my days with "non-bacterial" prostatitis - the same thing that many of you are going through...

by theendor, Oct 21, 2009 04:17PM
To add: if I have protected sex, everything is fine no matter how hard it is done. Without condom it takes 2 days and the symptoms are on... It's incredible there is no medical answer to this!!!

With my girlfriend away traveling ive had some time away from penile "exercising". I have also begun more cardio work regularly (runnning, biking) and eating less spicy foods. To my amazement, after one week i had two consecutive days of pain free peeing. However, I rewarded myself with a solid masturbation session and the mild pain was back. Im not sure what caused the pain to go away but i think it was a combination of believing it was in my mind and up to me to cure it. Nonetheless, the strain is still there so the contractions when you orgasm must have kept me injured.

Therefore i believe the cure to this disorder is the acceptance that the pain was caused mentally, it is up to you to relax and not worry about it, have confidence it will go away soon, stay active and exercise, and the last and worst one, refrain from sexual activity. Good luck.
