Intercourse during Acute Prostatitis

Intercourse during Acute Prostatitis?
by Toothartist, 7 minutes ago
I was just diagnosed with acute protatitis and given Cipro to treat it.  My first real symptoms started 4 days ago.  However, I realize that I had some lower back pain a couple of weeks ago that might have been an early sign.  My question is it OK to have unprotected sex with my wife (totally monogamous for ever) or must I use condoms for now.  Also,  I hear that it is good for a man to ejaculate to releive the fluid pressure in the protate when he has prostatitis.  I know it makes me feel better.  If so, how often should I do this, daily or every couple of days or when the pressure builds up?

Hi, I have had prostatitis since I was about 23 y/o up to today.

During this period my wife and I have engaged in intercourse when I did not have a lot of discomfort. I never passed anything on to my wife.

I did however notice that I had more pain after intercourse. You would have to see this for your self, maybe it's different for you.

All the best.

Ron

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Prostatitis is not contagious and if you are taking the treatment you can indulge in intercourse. Some people complain of pelvic pain and pain during intercourse, so if you have any such symptoms then you can avoid intercourse during prostatitis.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
