Is it a cyst??

Is it a cyst??

I am 41 old male and had a vasectomy about 7 years ago with no complications since. I periodically do a self exam and found that I had a small lump about the size of a BB of the side of one of my testicals. It does not hurt, but when rubbing it, the object broke free and is "floating" around and not attached to anything.

Is this likely a cyst or something similar?? What would be an other than a cyst?? My wife was concerned that it could be a clip from my vasectomy, but my thought was that it did not originate from the same area.

Thanks.

Possibilities of a scrotal mass can be a cyst, hydrocele, varicocele or cancer.  Post-surgical changes from the vasectomy can also be possible.

In any case, the next step is a scrotal ultrasound.  This test can evaluate for each of these possibilities.  I would also consider a urology evaluation.
