Kidney stone pain

My sister has an on/off pain in her back located at the bra level.  The pain can get so intense at times that it makes her nauseated.  In the ER last night, it was discovered that she has a kidney stone about an inch in size.  Would it be possible that the stone is what is causing the back pain?  FYI - She has a history of kidney stones but not with pain that high in her back.

Hi, it is possible that the pain of kidney stones radiate to the upper back or shoulders (rarely). At the same time CT Thorax and abdomen be done to rule out any other cause, which might lead to the pain. Persons who are prone to have stones can have them at multiple sites. At times gall stone pain can also radiate to back.

I am assuming that they did bloodwork and a ct scan to find the kidney stone. I know because I have prone to stones myself. I have one now. I get on and off again pain. A ct scan should have seen the other organs that would be up that high on her bra line. I get pain in my back down my butt and leg. In th front the pain can go up to right underneath my rib cage, down t the groin area. What did the ER doc say about the pain being there?
