Left Testicle pain-dull and sometimes sharp

I have had this problem for quite some time with my left testicle dull and sometimes sharp pain no swelling. I went to my doctor and he told me it was probably an infection. Well, the problem has become worse; I am taking pain killers when it gets worse. I just finished my prescripton and was given another dose and an have a appointment for an ultrasound next week; the 8th of January 2009. Is there any chance it could be a infection that is resistant to the medicine or cancer? I understand you are not my doctor. Just wondering by chance. Thanks. Tim

Pain in testicle could be due to infection, like prostatitis, epididymitis or orchitis. Get a culture sensitivity test for both semen and urine done. Also it could be due to referred pain of kidney stones. An ultrasound of the lower abdomen will be able to rule out kidney stones. It could be due to cancer of testis. It could be due to varicocele or spermatocele. An ultrasound of the testicles will diagnose cancer, varicocele and spermatocele.
