Lower back pain uro thinks its IC ~ Help!

I have:
1. lower right back pain that sometimes travels up to my kidney area
2. occasional blood in urine (not visible to the eye)
3. dark urine, sometimes smells musty or bad
4. some burning after urination
5. prolapsed bladder and bowel
6. pelvic floor dysfunction

I hardly ever have urgency and I do not have to go all the time like most IC patience
I have never had a UTI, or kidney or bladder infection. I have occasional light green vaginal discharge but no infection. I did at one point have very inflamed female organs (cervix, uterus, ovaries) I have had a CAT scan, IVP, tests for STD's, and even sugery to be sure it was n't endometriosis. I have seen around 6 doctors for this terrible pain and the last doc thinks its IC, but i do not really have bladder pain much at all and my pain is worse AFTER urination Especially in the AM. And its in my back on the right side. Any info would help.

I have been suffering from what seems to be  IC since I was 22. I went to various doctors but the doctors did not seem to think it is IC. I noticed that my bladder becomes painful when I am under stress and when I drink caffeinated drinks such as coffee (any type of coffee, even decaf), soda, and when I drink anything that contains citrus or is acidic. I thought Cranberry juice would be good to drink but I noticed that it was more painful to drink than anything. I am going to the doctors again to see what is going on.

I have IC and am an IC support group leader for MOARKIC, (networking patients and medical practitioners in Missouri and Arkansas), honestly the symptoms you describe don't sound like IC to me, but your doctor might have noticed some things on pelvic exam that you and I are missing. I know I never realized how much of my pain was my bladder till they instilled medicineinto my bladder to completely numb it, I was shocked when all my pelvic pain disappeared!  I also have MSK and Pelvic Congestions syndrome so it took awhile to distinguish the symptoms, from my IC.  Feel free to pm me for more info on IC , if you need it!

I would highly suggest getting a referral to a good pelvic pain PT, they are great and you have PFD, that could very likely be the cause of your low back pain!  There is also a great book called "Heal Pelvic Pain"by Amy Stein.  I would not recommend it instead of seeing a good PT however the step by step Pelvic pain program is an excellent companion to working with a good PT!

Good luck and hope you feel better soon!
