Lump on Penis, On Shaft, Just Beneath Head

by zavent, Apr 15, 2007 12:00AM
I recently discovered a Lump on my penis.  It really isn't noticeable from just the overhead view of my penis, but it feels irritated and you can feel the lump when touching it (it's a slight lump as well, hardly noticeable again).  The lump appears to be under the skin and has been there for about 2.5 weeks now.  I have a slightly curved penis, (to the left) The Lump is on the right side of my penis, the outer side of curve.   The location is maybe a quarter of an inch from the base of the head.  I use protection during sex, except when receiving oral sex.  And I do masturbate a GREAT DEAL.  I initially thought that some kind of abrasive material like dirt rubbed against the shaft while masturbating to irritate and cause this lump.  But after 2.5 weeks, I have made a an appointment to get tested for STD's. When I'm erect, I notice the lump and irritation more.

However, my concern is that it may not be a STD, but Cancer. Is this possible?  If so, I thought that cancer lumps aren't irritable like this one.  There is no discharge from the penis head and no open sores as well.  No Blood in urine.  No Pain when ejaculating or urinating. I feel fine as well.  Workout often. I'm just worried that it could be Cancer.

Please Advise,
Lefty

I agree with the testing for STDs.  This can be done with a urine test, urethral swab as well as palpation of the prostate.

Imaging the penis should also be considered.  Masses, cancer, and vein thrombosis can lead to the symptoms you are describing.  A penile ultrasound would be a reasonable initial test to rule out these disorders.

I would suggest a referral to a urologist at this point to discuss these options.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
