Lymphocele on the Penis

As my profile suggest, I try to live a clean life. That seems to be important because I know people think right off the bat that when you are concerned about something about your penis, you must be "Promiscuous". Well, I'm not.
Here's my story. A few weeks ago I noticed something different about my penis. I check it often along with the rest of my body. Just under the rim of the head of the penis there is something like a vein about an inch long. Part of it is narrow and the other half is kind of puffy. During sex it seems to get bigger and harder. In all the reading I have done suggest it is lymphocele and that there isn't much to worry about.
I went to a Urologist and he said it wasn't lymphocele. I forgot what he called it but he thinks it was always there after I was circumcised at birth. I don't think he is correct but then I am not a urologist. He did ask me if there was any discomfort during sex or any other time. At that time I said no but shortly after that visit I noticed during sex it was uncomfortable. I can't call it pain but kind of like if your socks had a crease in them while you were walking, or if there was a rubber band just under the skin there. There is a very tinny pinch when it is squeezed. I am going for a second opinion Monday but I just wanted to see what others have experienced and if you have had this removed.

Sorry for the very late response.
By now I suspect your issue has resolved itself. One thing I can leave you will that most people will not tell you. It's a mystery to me why older men don't tell younger men/boys these things. It could save a lot of anguish for many of us. When you are concerned about any health issue, don't be ashamed to go to your doctor or a doctor. You can always tell if your doctor isn't helpful also. Go see one that shows interest  in your concern and answers all of your questions. A good doctor is one that will answer all of your questions and ask you do you have any other. Then they will offer you information that you may not have asked about that you should know.

To tell you the truth I was kind of bothered by a man touching me where I don't normally let anyone touch me. I know it sounds strange but for insurance purposes I was told to have a prostate exam. I had never had one before and this happened before I was thirty. Turns out my doctor had big hands. When he told me to bed over I thought he was just going to look. Next thing I knew a finger was going up my butt/anus.

After that I decided to try a female doctor. My thinking was a woman should have smaller hands, therefore smaller fingers. After getting over the fear of a woman seeing me so relaxed there wasn't much to take hold of (my flaccid penis) I was okay. In fact when you think of it, if she is a urologist she has seen many more than yours.

Bottom line? It is better to face your boyish fears and ignorance and go see a doctor about anything and everything that involves your body.

From what the doctors have told me about this condition, it is scar tissue so I wouldn't think there is anything that could pop. I would be concerned also. Hope things turned out fine for you.

I have had what seemed to be a lymphocele for about 2 weeks. I have had them in the past, however, they always went away on their own within a few days. Anyhow, earlier this evening I was messing with it, trying to judge if it was getting larger, smaller, spreading, etc.. I squeezed it some to see how solid it was and it popped. I even heard an audible "pop" out loud and it was completely gone. While at first I laughed and thought, "well damn was that all it needed!?!?" , I soon became somewhat concerned. I am a paramedic and am quite familiar with blood clotting and pulmonary embolus issues, and I immediately started worrying that I just inadvertently sent a clot into my system. It's been about an hour now... I'm still here. So I imagine I'm fine. Has anyone here ever purposefully or accidentally burst one of these things?

Hello everyone,

Forgive me if I repeat some things. I tend to not re-read my post when adding new comments.

It makes me feel good that my post has help people. It should show everyone that whatever your experiences, someone will benefit in some way when you share.

I am no Anthony Weiner but I did decide after giving it some serious thought, to post a picture of my 'weiner' if you may. Good thing I am not running for or in some kind of political office.

I posted that picture because of my past (very personal) experiences with medical issues. About 5 years ago I noticed it was taking me a little longer to pee each time I stood in front of a urinal. My first thought was, "I don't know if this is normal or not". Old heads just don't pass on stuff like this. I went to my doctor and of course she stuck her finger up my butt. One of the reasons I had a female doctor was to avoid male doctors with big fingers poking around in tight places. That just doesn't feel good. Anyway....turns out she stands about 6'. She still had big fingers. Oh well. She sent me to a urologist who said my prostate was enlarged and suggested out patient Microwave Prostate Therapy. At the time this was the least invasive procedure available.

I kept asking the urologist how much pain was going to be involved. The answer was always with a smile "pain is minimum, we will take good care of you, don't worry". Of course you know I was really worried after he said all that.
I have heard since that there may be even less invasive ways of dealing with enlarged prostates. Thought I'd say that before adding that after that procedure, when ever I think of what I went through they should use it on Osoma Bin Laden when they catch him. Oh, he's dead....too bad.

I am so thankful of the results of that procedure but man! I can't help but think that stuff should come out of your penis not go in it.

Some time after I went through that procedure a friend of mine's blood test came back suggesting he may have cancer of the prostate. They decided to do this same procedure on him. I told him my experience but I tried to not frighten him too much. After he had it done he told me it helped that I told him what to expect. On the other hand they ended up doing it two more times on him. One being a biopsy. It was sad because he told me that if they insisted on doing it one more time he would rather die. I didn't really know what to say other than to pray. Well, they came back and said he needed it done again. At 60 something years old would you want to go through that kind of torture? After telling them no. They found another way to deal with the problem.

I have had a few other nagging medical problems in my life and each time I looked for someone to help. Just information. I know people have these things or know someone that has had these problems. No one wants to pass on information regardless where it comes from.

So, that is why I posted my fibrous tissue issue with a picture of my penis. I did all I could to take an erected penis picture. It just isn't very exciting taking pictures of my my private parts. I wanted it erect because other pictures I have seen of flaccid penises, this condition didn't illustrate well.

I hope those that have participated in this discussion has help others. I do think that if this site allows it, everyone with this condition should post a picture of the effected area so people will have some comparison of their own problem.

As for the rapture. Always be watchful for the end times but any man that says he knows when it is is a liar.
No one except God knows the time of the end of the world. How does anyone dare to teach that the Rapture and the Day of Judgment will occur on May 21, 2011? Doesn’t the Bible say very plainly that no one can know the day or the hour of Christ’s return? Indeed the Bible did teach that. NO MAN KNOWS THE DAY OR THE HOUR.

Thanks everyone and hope you all wellness and happiness.

Thanks for the update.  I'm doing fine except for this lame raised line that showed up immediately after sex just like pictured in this post and from what I've seen around the web.  It's a bit daunting to locate credible information on this. I thought we knew just about everything by now.  It’s 2011 not 1950.  Most of the free medical information is old. and I've noticed that the diagnose and treatment for this varies from doctor to doctor as well in addition to what they medically term it as.  That’s confusing.  I’ve seen it called at least 5 things. It seems people are not having much luck with Urologists or Dermatologists on this one. Most medical advice I read from doctors state that it's benign and leaving it alone and abstaining from sex is the best prescription. One guy said he's going on a year and this is after seeing a couple of physicians for it.  Ugh.  Someone in the medical community has to know what is going on and what treatments work, if any.  I'm tempted to get into the official peer-to-peer medical journals and pay to read some case studies. I will post any info I find that would be helpful.

Have a great weekend.  Should be, we survived the rapture for Christ’s sake.  =]

Hey Sandy,

After he applied the cortisone the urologist gave him the area turned red and started to flake.  After about a week the bump went away.  The other day he said it had come back again, but was really small.  I don't know.  He refuses to go back to the doc so I guess we will have to wait and see.......

Hope you are doing well!!!

Sorry I didn't post what my doctor discussed with me about this condition.
Now that I talked with this being the third doctor I could mention what happened before I posted this thread.

I probably should have mentioned that after a back injury I found many things that I once took for granted are now very difficult. Even when it came to sex with my wife. Afterwards my back ached for days. The thought of having sex was like thinking about doing really hard physical work, knowing that only pain followed. Wanting to please me anyway, my wife would....well you know she has nice hands. The problem with that was at times she was rougher than needed but I didn't want to complain.

My doctor confirmed this (without me telling him this was happening). His diagnosis was fibrous tissue most likely caused by trauma but the medical field isn't sure what causes this. Needless to say I was feeling quite frustrated because this was like having a condom on with rolls of tissue inside it. When the doctor said it will most likely go away I was cautiously pleased. Finally he said it may be reoccurring.
Not long after my visit with the doctor the fibrous tissue went away and has not been back since.
Thank God!
p.s.
I would suggest doing a google search for fibrous tissue.
I was hesitant to post a picture of my penis online like most people would be (I think) but I have found as I have gotten older that no one tells young people what they need to know. These kinds of things can be very scary for anyone let alone a young person. That is why I love the TV show "Embarrassing Bodies". To all the partners here. It is difficult to have an erection when you go to see a doctor. I don't think it has anything to do with how attractive they are. One of the doctors I went to see was as hot as any woman can be but my penis was only about the size of my little finger and I have small hands. Trying to take a picture while erected wasn't easy either.
Hope everything is okay with everyone reading this post.

I'm not a doctor but it looks like Non-venereal sclerosing lymphangitisis.  It usually shows up immediately after or during sex or masturbation and usually resolves itself within a few weeks, sometimes longer.  No sexual activity is prescribed because the medical community thinks its caused by trauma.  Not sure what degree of trauma they mean. I guess normal Masturbation or intercourse could cause trauma.  Seems like a harsh word to use. I downloaded a PDF on it.  Google the following keywords:  "Sclerosing lymphangitis Department of Dermatology and Venereology, University Central Hospital, Helsinki, Finland"   It's fairly old literature but nothing changed.  Maybe the way it's being treated.  Contain several patients and outcomes, etc.  I've seen it come up once or twice over many years but it's gone within hours.  It happened again after some 10 years, but this time it stayed.  Same place as your freind.  Cord like ridge on left side running down the circumcision line and then down. Kinda freaked me out that it appeared instantly and then didn't go away.  I consulted with a doctor via email and he thinks it will probably reslove itself on its own.  I am still tying to understand more about it and I did read an explanation over at the Doctors Lounge *******.  Check it out using the key words: Non-venereal sclerosing lymphangitisis.  Hope this helps.

Are you still on this site?  Did you ever find out anything?  I saw another site where you posted an update from a second doctor and still did not find out anything.....My friend seems to have the same thing as you have.  Below is the information that I have posted on several boards on this site,  I can't put a pic here and I have been actually using your pic since you can see it much better than my friends pic.  Hope everything worked out for you and please let me know if you ever found anything.

My friend has a soft, bubble like bulge on the shaft of his penis.  It is located at the top of his shaft, on the left side directly under the head of his penis.  It is about the size of a pinky fingernail.  The bulge is only visible during an erection.  The bulge is skin colored and he has not experienced any pain or discomfort other than the stress of not knowing what this is.  He says that the bulge is soft and feels similar to the feel of a vein when touched,  In the four days that he has had this there has been no change in size, texture or color.

He went to a urologist today, but the urologist could not seeing anything while he was flaccid.   The urologist told him that his urine looked ok and told him to take aspirin and use cortisone cream.  I asked him why he did not make his penis erect for the exam and he said that he is so stressed over this that the only time he is hard now is in the morning.

He is 30 years old.  He had protected sex with 5 women before he married his wife and had unprotected sex with his wife for 8 years.  Recently he had unprotected sex with a girl that he has been seeing for the past couple of months.  The girl he was with had been in a monogamous relationship for 16 years and had recently been tested negative for all STD’s  and had not had sex with anyone since being tested.  She also retested after his bulge appeared and she was once again cleared of all STD’s.  They had unprotected sexy 5 days and 3 days before he woke up to see this bulge.  The night before the bulge appeared he went to a strip club and received several lap dances of vigorous grinding.  The night before and several times during the week before the bulge he had masturbated frequently.

I have been searching for information on this matter for several days and can not come up with anything conclusive.  I also sent a copy of the pictures to my friend who is a general Doctor in another state and he was not sure either.  He said that it is possible that it is any of the things that I have narrowed it down to.  From my research some of the possibilities include : Lymphocele, Sclerosing lymphangitis, Thrombosed vein, Varicose Vein and fibrous tissue.  Most research has suggested the underlying cause could be due to some kind of sexual trauma, aggressive sex/masterbation or overuse.

I am including a picture of the bulge on his penis.  It is very hard to see the bulge in the picture, but I found another picture on this site that he says looks exactly like what he has.  The guy that posted the other picture says that he had thought that he had a lymphocyte, but 2 doctors have said that is not the case.  He was told that his was some kind of fibrous tissue.  Has anyone other there ever seen anything like this and if so do you know what it is or how you get it?  Also, it has been hard to find any pictures other than STD’s.  Does anyone know of any sites of where I can find more pictures of things like this?

Thank you so very much for any help that you can give!!!
