Metal stent in ureter

I have had a metal stent inserted in my ureter following the failure of plastic stents. This has not worked and I have to continue with my nephrostomy bag. The ureter is possibly being constricted by retroperonial fibrosis, but how could this still be affecting the ureter if there is a stent inserted?
