Microbid - how long does it take to work

I was diagnosed with a UTI over 4 weeks ago. I was given Cipro for 5 days twice. Finally they sent a sample to the lab only to discover that the wrong medicine was being prescribed. The staph bacteria I have was resistant to the Cipro. I am now on Microbid 100mg twice a day for 14 days along with Phenazopyridine for the pain. After 6 days on Microbid I feel no relief. The symptoms are keeping me from getting enough sleep. Can someone please tell me if this is normal for Microbid or any antibiotic to take this long to work????  I called the doctor and the nurse called back to tell me to stay on it. Pretty soon I will be looking for the highest bridge to jump off. HELP!!!!!!!

I have a bladder infection right now...my doc. had me on Microbid...it didn't help me at all.  She then put me on Levaquin...They say Levaquin is a very powerful antibiotic.  I go back to the dr. tomorrow.  So we will see...Do you have a bladder infection?  Hope you feel better.

When I use Microbid, it clears up within a day.  It works great for me.
