New Dark Penile Vein

by SeekingAdvice0101, Oct 05, 2009 07:55PM
Hello,

Where to begin.  This past weekend I was very sexually active (girlfriend visiting from out of town).  In one day I would say the "deed" was done four times.  Every time, I wore a condom.  I notice that condoms often bother me at the base of my penis at the top (side that faces up or out) I've come to understand this is called a "dorsal vein."   Anyway, this occasion was no exception, the next day the area (seems to be right on the vein, maybe a quarter of an inch up the shaft) was downright sore and tender to the touch.  The soreness has never lasted like this.  It is now two days later and the area is still sore, but it seems to be subsiding. No visible bruises or redness.

Now, my real cause of concern.  Now I have purple veins visible in my shaft, particularly on my left side.  There is a deep purple vein that seems huge running up that whole side, extremely vivid and bright.  I don't remember ever seeing it before, certainly not with this level of clarity.  My entire penis in general, during erection, has several visible purple veins.  It is almost as though the skin on my penis is clear, they are that vivid.  I am a veiny person in general but this brightness in color is a marked change from the norm.

I am concerned that in the day of sexual activity I may have injured myself.  The tender area is usually right where the "band" from the bottom on the condom is and I'm concerned maybe it has pinched a nerve or something serious.  I have heard about varicose veins in the penis, but I have seen vericose veins before, on legs, etc.  This one vein in particular (the one on the left side) is so bright in color and it sticks out like a vein in a weight-lifter's arm.  I feel like it must be something other than that.  Please let me know what you think.  Thank you.

Hi,
I think you should wait for sometime and I hope the soreness will go away and the veins which you have mentioned may become less prominent. Frequent sexual activity might have caused the same. Everything should be fine over a period of time. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

To: when am I fine?
First of all, thank you for your advice, it certainly helped ease my mind.  I just wanted to follow up briefly.  The pain/sensitivity has is all but gone but the veins are still very visible.  How will I know when I can engage in sexual activity again?  Should i wait til the veins are totally gone?  What do you think caused it.  You think the "pinching" of the condom was a contributory factor?  Thank you.

I have the exact same problem as you 'SeekingAdvice0101' the only difference is I haven't used a condom for a long time, and believe the injury to be caused by increased sexual activity with my girlfriend over the last week. The veins are bright purple and become very vivid when I am erect & the base of my penis is tender, hurting sometimes. Hopefully it heals soon for both of us..
