Non Specific or what?

by MrCapes, Aug 31, 2009 10:42AM
Ok, So basically here is the deal. I am 25 and recently got with a new partner so decided that I would have a full set of tests done to make sure i wasn't infected with anything. When I went for the tests I had a ureteral swab which showed I had traces of inflammation and I was therefore diagnosed with a non specific urethritis, all other tests came back all clean.

So the doctor gave me these 4 pills to take in one go that should sort it all out and i was suppose to take them before bed with no food. However, before I had a chance to take them I noticed the end of my penis was really sore and it even swelled up a bit. The swab seemed to make the area extremely nasty and even after taking the pills I found myself needing to pas urine frequently etc.

I left it a week under instruction from the health advisor but this developed further into what was later diagnosed as epididymitis which took around a month of cipro to get rid of.

When my symptoms were gone and my girlfriend and I were having unprotected sex she seemed to constantly get UTIs. This was never a problem so i feel this is related and in the lest few weeks when she experienced symptoms I started to see the redness around my penis once again. I left it again cos i don't have insurance but ended up getting the aching in my left testicle again.

My doctor (who i paid loads of money) gave me some more cipro which seems to have cleared up the aching but i still have the redness and discomfort when passing urine.

Does anyone know if I should be taking a different antibiotic or experienced this before?

I'm sure it is all related to the swab but I don't know how to get rid of this for good!

Thanks for your time
