Orgasm Problem

by drew46, Jan 29, 2005 12:00AM
I am a 51 year old male.  I am in good health. For some reason when I have an orgasm I have stopped having the pleasurable sensation you would normally feel while having it .  I basically feel nothing from a sensory prospective.  I have the desire like I always did and no physical problems associated with sexual performance itself.  Any suggestions?  What do you suggest?

I would check for diseases that can affect the peripheral nerves - specifically diabetes.  This can be done with a fasting blood surgar test.  Cases of diabetes can lead to a decrease in nerve sensation.

Other consideration would be infection - and this can be tested for using a urinalysis and a digital rectal exam to evaluate the prostate.

If infection and diabetes have been ruled out, you can consider a neurologic referral for further evaluation.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
