I would check for diseases that can affect the peripheral nerves - specifically diabetes. This can be done with a
fastingFasting glucose tolerance test
Glucose test - blood blood surgar test. Cases of diabetes can
leadLead poisoning to a decrease in
nerveNerve biopsy
Nerve conduction velocity sensation.
Other consideration would be infection - and this can be tested for using a urinalysis and a digital rectal exam to evaluate the prostate.
If infection and diabetes have been ruled out, you can consider a neurologic referral for further evaluation.
