Over-sensitive urethral nerves

Hi, i had a cystoscopy yesterday to find out why i was having urethral discomfort and recurring UTIs. i think the doctor suspected a stricture but when he did it my bladder and urethra were fine..no inflammation, no strictures. But when he was moving the camera up and down the urethra it felt very sore and over sensitive.

He suggested i get dilation done to blunt the nerve sensation...ill be assessed in 3 months to decide if i want to go ahead with it, and if there is no improvement after the camera then i think i will go ahead.

Anyway, to get to the Q i want to ask. I wondered if there was a medical term for this? is it a known condition and can i find out anymore about it?

Thanks in advance

Hello no I did maen the ureter. I am sorry I read that wrong. Uretha pain like all the other KUB problems can wear you to the ground. I am so very sorry and I hope you feel better soon.
Well my ureter was always ok but after my last 3 surgeries I am now left with a dialated ureter, whick I know absolutely nothing about. I was thinking "more infection prone" but was not sure. Thanks for your help here.
I too am a mess and just worn to the ground from pain at the moment. I feel like I lost my existance. I just want my life back. Feel better soon   Cara

The problems i have is my urethra, not ureter...unless thats what you mean? What surgeries did you have? i wouldnt say either a dilated urethra or ureter would be dangerous...if the ureter is wider it may mean you'll need to pee more, and a dilated urethra can end recurrent UTIs.

I think any sensitivity in the urinary system is horrible :( ive had enough UTIs to last me a lifetime! Hope your symptoms come to an end soon too!

Hi. I am hoping you get a reply as I have a dialated ureter. I had a few surgeries over the past few weeks and that is the outcome. I am curious if it is dangerous? I too am very sensitive in the ureters. It is horrible.
I wish you the best and please keep me posted. Cara
