PSA level of 8.5

by Mandy2008, Apr 14, 2009 04:16PM
My father is now 60 years old and was diagnosed with prostate cancer 5 years ago. After he had the surgery he found out that it was spread to his lymph nodes. He was taking needles, 1 every 3 months for a while but felt very ill from them and decided to stop. Back in January his PSA level was 4.5 and the doctor said that it would take about 6-9 months before it reached 8.0. It is already 8.5 and its only been 3 months. He has been having a lot of stomach pain lately as well. Does this indicate that the tumor has enlarged, may it indicate that the cancer may be spread to his stomach and if it doubled this fast, does he have long left to live? Thanks

This discussion is related to Elevated PSA and low Free PSA with benign biopsies.
