Pain after urination

Pain after urination

Two days ago I urinated and it was very painful with a feeling of the pain moving up my urethra from the end of my penis.
Ever since then I have had a dull pain after urinating in my lower front abdomen. I also have a feeling as if my testicles are being squeezed and so giving me slight pain. What is wrong with me and what should I do?

Infection would be the most common reason why there would be pain after urination.

I would test the urine for infection as well as obtain urethral swabs for gonrrhea and chlamydia.

Prostatitis can also cause pain after urination.  A digital rectal exam to evaluate the prostate and any prostatic secretions should be tested for.  If negative, a transrectal ultrasound can be considered to evaluate for abscesses.

Non-infectious causes can include urethral strictures or polyps.  They are evaluated via a cystoscopy that is arranged through your urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
