Hi,
I am a 21 year old male. I had an accidental self-inflicted injury to my scrotum 2-3 weeks ago. The cause of the injury was I had wrapped a plastic bag around my penis to about mid base of my scrotum for a duration of 2-3min. I didn't think it was that tight, but 2 days later I noticed my scrotum was a deep red color.
At first there was no pain, but as I found out later there was some internal swelling. 4 days after the injury I had increased trouble passing urine. So, being a little worried I contacted a physician online and the doctor suggested I use an Arnica topical gel 3 times a day for awhile. The swelling went down,redness started to fade and I was able to pee normally.
I went to a physician to make sure everything was alright and requested an ultrasound. However, the physician didn't feel there was any thing wrong or the need to see a urologist. But his dismissive attitude of his dignosise makes me question his answer.
Then 6 days ago I decided to have an ejaculation to see if I was able to have one without any problems. Shortly after, my testicals ached mildly that day and the next.After that just my right testical(which is insanely larger then the left) aches , but not to the touch depending on how I sit or lie down. Plus even weeks after the initial injury my scrotum is still a reddish color, just not as bad. Now, although could be natural, there are very visable(but not raised) blue\purple veins around my penis.
Should I have this checked out; possibly from a different physician? or maybe it is just in a healing process and takes an extended period of time to heal?

I agree with the ultrasound. Any scrotal trauma can lead to torsion which is a surgical emergency.
The ultrasound can also evaluate for hydroceles or varicoceles, which can present with asymmetrical scrotal swelling.
If the ultrasound is negative, it is less likely there are any anatomical abnormalities present. Infection should be ruled out at this point. A urine test, urethral swab, and rectal exam to evaluate the prostate should be considered.
An ultrasound of the penis itself should also be done to look for masses or penile vein thrombosis.
These options can be discussed with your personal physician or urologist.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
