Painful Ejaculation

by wesleyC, Jan 22, 2006 12:00AM
For the past week, whenever I ejaculate a slight pain arises on the right side of my penis (looking down) near the base. It starts about a second before ejaculation and slowly dies down over the next few minutes after ejaculation. It's not a debilitating pain.It is at its most intense as I ejaculate. I have not noticed any other symptoms  such as painful urination or swelling. The area around my groin feels a bit warm, but I imagine that may just be over-attentiveness to that area. Thanks.

Infection should be ruled out.  This would include urine tests for a UTI as well as STDs like gonorrhea and chlamydia.  The prostate should also be looked at - with a digital rectal exam and prostatic massage.  An ultrasound of the prostate can be considered if this is clinically suspected.

If infection is not the cause, you can consider a cystoscopy to look for anatomical abnormalities in the lower GU tract.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician or in conjunction with a urology evaluation.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
