Painful urination and just sitting

I am going thru post menapause and had manapause sysmtoms for 10 years very intense because it the menapause was chemically induced by chemotherapy for breast cancer.  I am extremely dry in my vagina area and now I have been having constant pain especially when I urine and there is an ordor.  I told the gyno about it but she said we will check it out and then said nothing was wrong.  Is this normal for my time of life.  Eileen

Menopause can be a risk factor for chronic UTIs.  A dry vaginal area can also lead to this.

I would ensure there is no infection present - and test with a urinalysis and urine culture.  If there is bacteria present, appropriate antibiotics should be prescribed.

If there is a dry vaginal area, there are a variety of estrogen creams that can help this - and hopefully lead to a decrease in UTIs.
