Penile Lump

Penile Lump

I just discovered a lump near the end of my penis, just under the crown on the left side.  It is under the skin, and fairly  hard, but you can move it slightly (like a vein).  I know it was not there just a few days ago.  It is about 1-2cm long and about 2mm wide.  It almost feels like an oversize vein.  I have had sex only with my wife, and I know she has not been with anyone.

Just since discovering this, my sex drive has not really decreased, but it is slightly more difficult getting an erection, although I can still get erections in the middle of the night.  There are no other symptoms, just this lump.

I'm nervous...is it likely to be just a small cyst which will slowly dissolve on it's own?  Where did this come from, and is it likely to be cancerous?

Thank you.

Possibilities may include a cyst, thrombosed vein, penile plaque or infection.  Cancer is also possible.  Without examination, it would be difficult to tell.

The next step would be a referral to a urologist.  An ultrasound can be considered to further evaluate the lesion.  If the diagnosis continues to be unclear, a biopsy would be the definitive test.  The treatment and prognosis of this would depend on what is found.
