Penile Yeast Infection

Hi. About 3 weeks ago i started getting a burning sensation when I urinate and i noticed the tip was red and swollen but with no break outs or discharge also after ejaculation it would hurt for many hours more than 15-24 sometimes i finally went to a doctor yesterday and he said i have no UTI but it looks like i have a Yeast infection. He prescribed Nyaderm (Nystatin) for 7 days 4 times a day. From what i have been reading its better to have antibiotics as well as a cream like Nyaderm to cure it faster? is this true and/or will Nyaderm be effective enough by itself because i don't want to wait for a week to find out its just very discomforting.

Thank you very much.

Hi,
So then that means that just using the cream should cure the yeast infection right?

Hi,

Discuss things with your doctor or get a second opinion. UTI generally does not have any skin manifestation. If you have no specific risk factors for UTI, then the treatment should not include antibiotics. The problem is that inappropriate use of antibiotics may produce resistant organisms which could cause you problems in the future.
