Penis Injury

About a month ago I began to have painful erections which has not happened in the past.  No pain other than when there is an erection.  When I have an erection my penis is fully erect but will actually bend a little below the middle of the penis.

The only thing I can think of that may have caused an injury was involved in using a good deal of force during intercourse with my wife without using any lubrication first.  I remember my penis actually folding at this point but it was not painful at the time.  The erections are not as painful as they were a couple of weeks ago, but during an erection the penis still tends to fold to a degree during intercourse.

Will this heal itself or do I need to consult a urologist?   There has been no discoloration or swelling.  On examining myself you can feel some about of thickness at the site where the penis will fold during intercourse. Self examination of the site is not painful either.

This sounds to be peyronies disease. The thickening you describe may be early plaque formation. The instability is a feature of the contracture of the tunica albuginea ( the tough covering of the spongy tissue in the penis) that can be seen with this disease. I would suggest that you find a urologist with an interest in sexual dysfunction and peyronies to investigate your options. Avoid pursuing activities which cause   penile pain. The natural history of peyronies does include spontaneous resolution in some few cases, but usually intervention is reasonable to attempt stabilization if not cure.
Good luck!
