Penis Size & Alcohol Use

by MarkDH, Aug 02, 2008 11:41PM
Can drinking excessive amounts of alcohol during years of puberty cause the underdevelopment of male genitalia?  If so, can anything be done to cause the genitalia to develop to a normal size?

Hi,

Hormones generally affect the characteristics of the genitalia. Men have both estrogen and androgens, with the latter being the more dominant. Alcohol can damage the liver and a damaged liver would favor increasing estrogen levels, and hence can theoretically cause underdevelopment.
Such a scenario however is unlikely without other problems due to a diseased liver. Hence, while it is within the range of the possible, it is improbable.
Discuss your problem with your doctor, there may be problems with other hormones in which a search for answers may raise different organs (like the pituitary gland, the adrenal gland, and the gonads).
