Infection would certainly be a possibility.
You can obtain testing with a urine test or urethral swab to look for STDs like gonorrhea and chlamydia.
A urinalysis and urine culture can also be obtained to look for other UTIs.
You can also consider prostatitis, which is evaluated with a digital rectal exam. A transrectal ultrasound can also be considered if imaging the prostate is required.
