Penis pain is longer than the other. This cause the penis to turn to one side. The penis can have a rotational defect which can make the penis appear curved but is really straight. Peyronnie’s disease is diagnosed by feeling a hard “plaque” (calcified ) area of the penile shaft where the bend begins. Plaque formation is usually the result of trauma but can be seen in patients with other connective tissue diseases like Dupytren’s contracture.
Treatment is only recommended for patients/ partners experiencing pain or impotence. The only medicines with proven effect are administered in the form of an injection. Exercises or vitamin E will not help Peyronnie’s.
More individualized care is available at the Henry Ford Hospital and its urban campuses by calling (1 800 653 6568). We can also arrange local accommodations through this number if this is your need. Please bring any physicians’ notes and lab test results that you may be able to obtain. These will help us greatly.
