Post Circumcision Pain - Please Help!

Hello,

This is my first post and I was hoping someone on the forum would be able to help me out.

First, I'll go ahead and explain a bit about my history.  I was born out of the states and was not circumcised at birth.  At the age of 22, I was circumcised for the first time.  About two weeks into the circumcision, the sensitivity and pain around and on the head of the penis area did not go away.  I kept going back to the surgeon who performed the operation but he didn't seem to have any answer for me.  He told me to just keep waiting it out.  So I did and waited over a year or two with no luck.  The hyper sensitivity and the pain on the head of the penis still remained and didn't get any better.  So I had a second circumcision done which I hoped would remove the pain but that also did not help.  The same pain that I felt after the first operation hasn't gone away in over 3-4 years.

The head of the penis and the tip of the penis head (I believe it is called the meatus) are the most sensitive.  When I say sensitive and painful, I mean any form of direct contact causes a stinging sensation.  Pouring running water over my penis is okay but when I put on boxers or any sort of touch is made to the penis head area, it stings quite a bit.  The color is also the same redness in some areas of the head that has not gone away either.  It looks very irritated.

I've tried everything possible to try and relieve the pain over the years including trying different kinds of creams and visited other doctors.  All of them said that they couldn't figure out what it was.  One doctor suggested that the nerves in the penis head were overly excited or possibly damaged which was causing the hyper sensitivity but didn't have a solution to how to fix the nerves.

My question is if it anyone knows of any solution to the problem or if there is a cream or option out there that I can do to relieve the pain?

I'm particularly worried because I'll be getting married in less than a year now.  I have never had sex before and my future wife to be will be my first.  With this painful area though, I'm quite scared of the pain and will be quite sad especially since I have waited to have sex up to this point.

If anyone can help, that'd be great.

Thank you so much in advance.

Hi,

I will most definitely look into consulting a urologist about this.  My question though is if a local anesthetic agent was ministered, would there be a possibility that all feeling would go away in certain parts of the penis head?  If that's the case, even though the pain would be reduced, it would be worse in the long run I think to lose all feeling and have a numbing feeling in those areas.  If the local anesthetic agent would just help remove the pain and restore feeling back, that's definitely another story and I would love to try that out at the first possible chance I get.

Thanks again for the advice!

Hi,
I sincerely feel that you should consult a urologist and seek opinion for the same. Since the pain is persisting, a nerve block using a local anesthetic agent may help. This is usually done by an anesthetist or a surgeon. The use of oral analgesia like ibuprofen, diclofenac for sometime may also help. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

Hi,

I originally got circumcised because I was told by my friends that it was healthier to be circumcised in the long run and that it was better in terms of having a more pleasurable sex life.  I was a bit naive at the time so I just went ahead and got the procedure done.

Thank you for your encouragement.  My future wife to be has been very understanding and shown lots of support.  I do hope that as time progresses that both of us will become more accustomed to the sensations as well.

Hi,

I don't have an answer for you but I was born in the Netherlands where circumcision was not the norm. My younger brother was circumcised at about 6 due to phimosis.

May I ask you as to why you decided to get circumcised? My wife was born here in Canada and quite a number of males here are circumcised as well. I had asked my wife as to what her view on circumcision was and she let me know that she did not mind the fact that I'm uncircumcised. We decided that there was no point in getting our sons circumcised.

As you state that you will be married soon, your future wife should be able to understand your problems. I'm sure that both of you will be able to work this out. I hope that over time as you become intimate, you will become used to the sensations.

I'm wondering if circumcision can cause more problems that what it solves. Luckily I was not persuaded to get circumcised.

I sincerely hope that you will be able to enjoy a normal sex live.

All the best,

Ron

Hi,
I am also experiencing something similiar though for less time. I am 32 and had to undergo circumcision 2.5 months back because of para phimosis. Doctor has told i should be comfortable with everything within 45 days max. but still i am not even able to take bath, it hurts like very much and also very sore for days after intercourse. i am also having occassional shooting pain in pelviv region, inner thighs and rectum. i don't know if its after effect of circumcision. Overall i am really repenting having undergone circumcision, wish there was a way to reverse it, even if it means no sex for rest of life. At least i don't have to endure so much discomfort in my day today activities.
