I completed radiation of my prostate about one year ago. I am 83 years old. I work, play tennis, and race sail boats weekly. I have no urinary or other difficulties, excepting fear of having to go back on drugs.
Shortly after radiation and the use of Zoladex and Caodex my PSA was 0.1. Six months later it was 0.3. Now three months later it is 0.5. I did have sex, including orgasm, three days before the most recent PSA test.
Staff at hospital do not worry. 0.5 is not a problem.
How high can PSA get before i should get ready to take on hormones agein>

Biochemical recurrence after treatment for prostate cancer is technically defined as greater than 0.2. Three consecutive increases in PSA after radiation therapy suggest further evaluation.
Given the fact that your PSA is rising, I would discuss these results with your urologist. The options include treatment now, or waiting for another PSA reading to see if it continues to rise.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
