Post Vasectomy Scar Pain

Post Vasectomy Scar Pain

I realize that the scar tissue on the upper end of the vas tube after a vasectomy can be painful.  My urologist said that the scar tissue would soften over time making the tissue less sensitive.  My pain sometimes is based on activity or jarring the area, and I had my vasectomy 9 months ago.  Is this pain in this scar tissue something I should expect forever, or does it just take a longer time to heal?  Is it normal for the pain from scar tissue to take a year or more to go away? Also, is it normal to feel the pain from the scar tissue slightly into the abdominal area?

When sperm collect at the cut end of the vas deferens results is at times painful. If it continues this long, then I think you need to return to the physician who did the procedure to evaluate you. Sometimes the inflamed tissue (sperm granuloma) needs to be removed surgically, though this is not a guarantee that the pain will resolve. Motrin or another anti-inflammatory medication may help.
The nerves to the cord/vas/testis run up into the groin and thus may result in pain perceived to be in this region.
